Dendrobium victoria-reginae : Orchid Species InformationGenus name : Dendrobium
Species : victoria-reginae
A medium sized plant from the Philippines. It is an intermediate growing species and requires to be kept humid and moist through out the year. The canes are covered in persistent old leaf sheaths and are branching. These branches shouldn’t be confused with plantlets which the plant may also produce, they have no root system. Flowers are produced in threes or fours at the leafless nodes, pushing through the papery sheaths. They are about 1” across and variable in colour, from deep pink to blue. The petal and sepal tips are normally white, the lip the basic flower colour again tipped with white and delicately lined with reddish-purple. Do to the need for high humidity; plenty of air movement should be given.
Specific Epithet : named for Queen Victoria.
