Compared to its larger and more flamboyant relatives, Vanda lilacina has a more subtle beauty. Both plant and blooms are small, and the flowers are nicely fragrant. And it's also an easy plant to grow. Mine takes hot, humid and wet summers, followed by cool and dry winters.

Marie, it takes nighttime temperatures anywhere between approximately 7 and 13 C (I do try to keep it closer to the 13 C mark; however, there are many times during the winter when it's hard to keep it at that level).

Steve, I haven't seen this one in the flesh, so to speak but this one seems to be a very pale ie A white version of the plant. Very nice.

Bill, this particular plant is approximately 15 cm at its widest point, and 10 cm tall. I have one other one that's about 2 to 3 cm wider and taller; however, I knocked that plant's spike off completely about six weeks ago before it could flower. The leaves are very thick and deeply channeled, and the plant produces very thick roots too. It reminds me very much of an ascocentrum.

Thanks, Steve, might might hopefully flower this year then. I've had it 2 or 3 years but it doesn't grow much.
Bill.

That's very nice. I like that one lots, it has such a pretty combination of colour.
