At this time, the tail end of Aerides season, I was surprised to see this plant’s blooms. I had obtained it with a bunch of other plants as Aerides quinquevulnera var flava.
The blooms have opened, and lo and behold…instead of a quinquevulnera, it had the shape and morphology of an Aerides leeana, but the colors are that of a quinquevulnera. I propose that it is a natural hybrid, in effect Aerides leeana x quinquevulnera.
Would you agree?
The last two photos are that of Aerides leeana, and Aerides quinquevulnera, for comparison.

Oh my, I am definitely envious right now. Those flowers are absolutely stunning. I'm going to print a copy of one of them and show it to my Aerides odorata to try and encourage it to flower. For some reason, it's decided to take a break this year. Congratulations on your wonderful plant.

This thread is over a year old, I think we lost ntgerald for some reason but perhaps he will come back with more of his wonderful pictures.
